We have a saying here at the office that there’s no fat like your own fat, and this is kind of a funny saying, but it really actually has a lot of value and a lot of insight. And what I mean by that is this: Walk around Beverly Hills. Go to the restaurants, look at the awards ceremonies, look at the actors in the magazines, and a lot of them just don’t look right. They look puffed, they look funny, they look uneven; they look as if their smiles or their expressions are limited. And the reason for that is because in this town, and in many places in the country, fillers –unnatural fillers– are really the rage. Why? Well, a lot of doctors can do it. You don’t have to be a surgeon. Dermatologists, gynecologists; a lot of people who are not plastic surgeons are comfortable placing fillers. Natural fat is in the realm of the plastic surgeon because it’s a small procedure that we actually do in the operating room –but it’s a very short and very quick procedure– and it’s natural. It’s a green effect. It’s taking something that’s from you, washing it, creating a pure-cell version of the fat, and taking those healthy cells and placing them in the face where normally people would use fillers. So our patients, instead of having that swollen, unnatural look, look very natural, look un-operated and look the way that they used to look, and achieve the results that they came in requesting. I’m Dr. Lawrence Koplin, and thank you for listening.
